So here are some thoughts on writing The Heavenly Host.

The first few issues are the toughest.  Mostly because there isn’t much room for storytelling; as strange as that sounds.  By the time that characters are introduced, plot threads are woven and the scene is set…. you know, that all sounds like storytelling.

Perhaps I was wrong.  The first issues are crowded and that density makes it feel like little storytelling is being done - especially when writing;  it.  This is compounded in that I work well in ahead of updates - as I write this there are more than 100 completed pages waiting publication.

While I enjoy writing all the primary characters, it is always fun when I turn my pen to Gil and Jackie; for different reasons.  Gil is the Hardboiled Hero, in the mold of Marlow and Spade.   I love the genre and love playing with it under the framework of a more four-colour framework.

Jackie is a different matter.  She has her genesis in Arsene Lupin, Mae West and every Russ Meyer film ever made.  Deeply cunning, deeply selfish and almost entirely self serving.  She is fun to write in that she can say nearly anything; and does.

Enjoy.

Technically - the comic is created in Poser 8; with all postwork done  in Paint Shop Pro and Adobe.  In upcoming blog entries, I will go over the process from render to final page.
